Merck Company Foundation

Established in 1957 by Merck, The Merck Company Foundation is a U.S.-based, private charitable foundation and is Merck's chief source of funding support to qualified non-profit, charitable organizations. The Foundation marked its 50th anniversary in December of 2007.

Since its inception, the Foundation has contributed more than $524 million to support important initiatives that address societal needs and are consistent with Merck's overall mission to enhance the health and well-being of people around the world.

The mission of the Foundation is to support organizations and innovative programs in alignment with five priority areas: increasing access to medicines, vaccines and health care for underserved populations; building health care capacity; developing a diverse pool of world-class scientists; promoting a policy environment that supports innovation; and addressing the critical needs of Merck communities.
